CHOOSING A THERAPIST

How can you possibly choose a therapist from a list of names, a website and a photograph? Maybe you've gotten a recommendation from someone you trust. That helps. But maybe you're going into this process with no guidance. This can be a daunting process. (Maybe that's why you've been putting it off!) If you're unsure, I suggest that you reach out by telephone or email and ask for a brief consultation to help you decide if I'm the right fit for you. I'm not the best fit for everyone. No therapist is. If, after a short talk on the phone, we agree that we would work well together, we'll schedule an initial assessment visit. This is where you tell me your story and we talk about what you need and how I can help. You should leave your first appointment feeling comfortable, understood and hopeful. That's a good sign that you're on the right track.
